six weeks short reflection

Six weeks short reflection:

This semester is a third of the way through now. Post a bit about your thoughts on what you've done so far. Post the answers to these questions on your blog.

  • Do you feel this six weeks was successful for you? Why or why not? How did your work ethic affect this?
-I do think this six weeks was successful to me, because i actually learned how to do more stuff and it helped me have a little bit more of experience with both illustrator and photoshop for my main projects. My work ethic did effect effected this a little bit... In class ive been working like this since the beggining of the school year this is why  i cant really tell the difference but i do know that somehow it did effect it in a good and bad way...
  • Of the two major projects we worked on this six weeks (typography & game design), which did you prefer? Tell me about your thoughts on why.
- Of the 2 projects we worked on this six weeks i liked typography the most  because since i like art the most that was something i could  enjoy. Even though it was a little bit of hard work i managed to get through with it with a positive attitude.

  • For both of these projects, you were able to choose which software you wanted to use. What did you work most in? Why did you choose this software? Was this choice based on what you preferred to use, or what you thought would work best on this project? After completing it, do you think you'd use the same software if you could go back and begin it again?
- For the typography i used photoshop because it had layers and it had some effects that could help me disort my text, warp and do many more things. And for my game design project i used illustrator because i was familiar with using the shapes and for this i really didnt neeed layers or effects on my text. But i still dislike something about both of the softwares. In photshop many layers accumulate and its harder to find something when you have a combination of many things. In  illustrator idont like how it doesnt have a paint bucket to paint your background. Also it doesnt have effects on the text like photoshop. If i were to go back i thing i would try to channge to photoshop and find tutorials for making shapes on photoshop.

  • -What is something you've done or learned this six weeks that you think you may be able to use beyond this class and how?
- Something i learned this six weeks is the effect that typography can produce. I learned that its way more than just words. Artist use typography to explain feelings toward a subject that was something that impacted me and once you look beyond the picture therre are more things than just words, similar to a painting...

Plan:

Product:

This is our game cover. This is supposed to go on the box!

These are the game Directions.

The board game stands. It has a base with sticks attached to the base and the board(like a teepee).

Self-Evaluation:
  • What challenges did you encounter when creating your product?
Me and my partner struggled a little bit on a coming out with a game that would work with aprox. 20 people(class size). Something that a teacher her self would be able to handle it herself (by her self). We also had problems on what subject to choose from all the classes me and my partner have.
  • How did you cope with these challenges?
To cope with this challenge we got a little of advice from our teacher and we also researched things that could be useful in game designing. Also we went through all the classes we have together and got ideas that were educational and fun
  • What went particularly well in creating your product?
What i think went actually well is the fact that me and my partner had many classes together and we were able to talk about our difficulties in each class and design a game that would help us in that trouble. And time wise we split the work up and compared and fixed things that needed to be fixed!
  • If you were to redo the project from the very beginning, what would you do different?
Well, if i had another chance to redo my project i would tweek my box cover and our moco??? (idont know how you spell that?) I would probably change the game idea a little to where its a little easier t o explain...
  • What is something you can take from this project that can aid you after its completion?
There are many things that will aid me after the completion of my project but, It will definatly show and help notice how hard it is to work with a partner idea wise, but how easy it is working together time wise and actually learning more from each other.

reflection over game design

game designing is fun but its a little hard because you have to be thinking about a lot of things like the "what if's"... and those what if's matter so much in your design because you also have to think from other people point of view/ perspective. something you have to watch out when designing a game is that you have to make sure that you are not copying anyone else's idea.
